GRA to seek Police help to hunt 41,000 errant drivers

first_imgExpired road licencesA senior official within the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has confirmed that the tax agency is soon expected to make contact with the top brass of the Guyana Police Force in an effort to find some 41,000 drivers that are holders of expired road service licences.GRA headquarters“We are having conversations with the Traffic Chief (Ramesh Ashram), because what happens is: every year, drivers are expected to renew this licence, and we have found a number of drivers with expired licences,” the GRA official said.Traffic Chief Ramesh AshramWhile staff members of the GRA were running the usual checks on drivers, the discovery of numerous drivers with expired road service licences was reportedly made. Persons without road service licences, which expire yearly, would be contacted via letter, but other measures would be taken if those drivers fail to adhere to the call.The Traffic Chief said on Monday evening that he had not yet received word from the GRA. He noted that in such situations the Police Force would first serve notice to the drivers, and would then launch a campaign to find those drivers, using their motor vehicle registration numbers.last_img read more
