A Portland woman was arrested early Sunday morning in Clark County after she allegedly drove a Smart car through a red light, collided with a fire truck and fled the scene. At about 3:15 a.m., a Vancouver Fire Department fire truck was traveling west on Northeast 119th Street through the intersection at 87th Avenue. The fire truck had the green light, but its driver noticed that a red 2013 Smart car traveling north on 87th Avenue wasn’t stopping for its red light, said Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Neiman. The driver of the fire truck slammed on the brakes but still hit the passenger side of the Smart car as it drove through the intersection, Neiman said. The car “spun out, stopped and immediately took off,” he said. The woman soon pulled over to check out the damage to her vehicle, allowing the fire truck to catch up to her car. But once the fire truck reached her, the woman drove away again, Neiman said. Police followed her car, but the woman wouldn’t pull over, Neiman said. The Smart car eventually crashed at the 5500 block of Northeast 139th Street, and police arrested 21-year-old Jillian A. Sharp on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run, Neiman said.
